2.0 out of 5 stars Desperately seeing re-design, January 22, 2012

I appreciate that this stroller is super light and easy to collapse and carry. I do. But there are a few design features that make me question whether the UppaBaby designers have ever tried to use their own strollers. First and most annoying, the brakes. Oh, the brakes. Conveniently positioned so you step on them as you walk, causing the stroller to screech to a halt. But that's not the most annoying part of the brake system. The brake levers are positioned so that you can't bonk your stroller down the stairs - the levers catch on every step and necessitate a sort of shimmy to get the stroller down another step. This contrasts to the MacLaren models, where the brakes levers are vertical - and therefore impossible to accidentally step on, and out of the way when you take an open stroller down stairs. I have to go down three steps to get to my front door...no way am I taking a happy kid out of the stroller so I can close it up and carry it down three steps, where I'd then have...Read more

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE BUYING.

You may watch a video of the defect here: [...]

I've had this stroller less than a week and it has spontaneously collapsed 3x on my infant (~20 lbs). I had read other reviews concerning this issue but had assumed those reviewers did not have the stroller properly locked open to begin with. I can now tell you without a doubt that when you press down firmly until the pedal locks the stroller open with a click, one or both of the latches may still slip up past the locking system on the back rails and allow the stroller to collapse. The only way to prevent collapsing (if only one side goes out) is to push apart the handles manually with your hands to prevent full collapse with the child strapped into place. This stroller may present a MAJOR SAFETY RISK to YOUR CHILD. There is a defect in the model's back latch system.

As shown in the video, the rear latches which pop out to hold the stroller into an open lock position fail...Read more

Loving this stroller. I usually don't like to let my guy nap on the run, but on the occasion that we are out during a nap time he fall out great in this one! Just as good as his full size reclining stroller. Nice and super light. Cool looking. Not too many people have it (YET). The seat is a bit more structured than your standard volo. And it is a 2 hand fold BUT, with practice I am able to do it while holding him (roughly under my arm...but hey). I do agree the locking mechanism could have been designed better but rolling a stroller up stairs can't be great for it anyway, and I haven't had a hard time rolling it up a curb at all. The seat back is 19" high....so plenty of room for growth. So happy I got it...i was really debating for a while.
