Bringing baby home has never been easier with the First Year’s Via Infant seat. The First Year’s Via Infant Seat received the 5-Star Ease of Use rating from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA). Buckle your little one in securely with the five-point harness. And as your baby starts to grow, with the easy one-hand adjustments, you never have to rethread the harness. Once your little one is snug and secure in their seat, they may never want you to take them out. Babies will love the luxurious triple-layer padding. And best of all, if you have a little spill, clean-up is quick with the easy-off pad. Simply snap off the pad, give it a quick clean and snap it back on, all this without the hassle of rethreading the five point harness.
Installing the base is simple with the two separate LATCH attachment points and the built-in lock offs. With the four-position easy-adjust base, the Via base will be easy to install in most of today's backseats...and worries about installing at the right angle are covered with the easy-to-read angle indicator on the side of the seat. Once you arrive at your destination, the one-hand release from the base gets you and your baby out of the car quicker and faster.
The comfort-carry handle is designed especially for parents and there is even room to add contact information. In addition to the LATCH system Via car seat feature energy-management rebound control handle. This handle, when installed in the correct po

I am a first time mom and wanted to make sure when it came to all my baby gear purchases that they were the safest on the market. So when it came time to pick an infant carseat it was a close race between The First Years Via and Britax Chaperone. After months of research I decided to go for the Via because of its 5 star NHTA rating, weight, simple but stylish fabric, and fair price. When it arrived in the mail I was so excited to see that it was everything I expected and then some. It has this great feature where if you take your child to daycare there are slots on the handle where you can list your contact info or a picture of your child to prevent his or her infant seat from being mixed up with another child's. To ALL you moms out there the last thing I must say I LOVE about this infant carseat is the fact that my husband cant stop thanking me for picking a seat that is light weight, easily removable from base(only takes one hand), and doesnt have a wild fabric design pattern. I decided to buy this car seat because of the safety rating by the NHTSA. I think it was the only one with 5 stars in every category. The only thing I was skeptical about was the padding in it. I could not find this car seat in any store so I didn't know what I was getting. I was nervous because the Graco seats also have a decent rating but the padding was not sufficient enough for me. So I decided to buy it, knowing I could send it back through Amazon. I was surprised to find that the padding is more than sufficient. The material feels good to the touch...it does not seem like that faux suede or windbreaker material that some other companies have switched to. The seat is not too heavy. The canopy seems like it is big enough to protect from the sun. The color of the seat is gender neutral despite the small amount of blue striping on it. I also like that you can adjust the harness just by pulling on the strap in the seat..you don't have to adjust it from the back. The base has a...Read more

The Rating Is Not Safety, It's a Ease Of Use Rating...,

It's great this car seat got a good rating for ease of use but the reviews keep stating it got a safety rating. It did not. This car seat was not crash tested by NHTSA, An ease of use rating means the item is easy to use and can be used with out much difficultly. It is not a crash test or an actual safety rating.
I hate to see people continue to give the wrong information but if you want to learn about crash tests only few, very few seats have been tested by one division (besides the own companies tests and claims which is a whole other ball of wax)
So please buy this seat for ease of use but know the NTS rating is not a crash test rating.
Like I said there has been only one division who did crash tests on infant car seats in actual cars (instead of sleds like the carseat companies do) and you can find those results (which shocked me) by googling and researching. Safety claims by the companies making seats should be taken with a grain of salt and this...Read more
