Editorial Review

With a lightweight, aluminum frame and eye-catching, stylish design, the Pliko P3 is proof that choosing an umbrella stroller no longer means sacrificing design for convenience. Easy to pack and a breeze to maneuver through tight spaces, the stroller makes a terrific shopping or travel companion for parents on the go. Thick, supportive seat padding and smooth-rolling double wheels create a comfy ride for little ones who are held safely in place with a five-point harness. Older toddlers can even hitch a standing ride on the rear ledge, provided another child is in the stroller. Although some features are streamlined for portability, this stroller still provides many perks, such as a pivoting snack tray for easy toddler access, a full canopy to protect your child from the elements, and a four-position reclining seat that adjusts without needlessly bothering baby.

While designed for easy use with the Primo Viaggio car seat (sold separately), which clicks quickly and securely into place, the stroller can accommodate most car seats with the help of an included strap. Adults can easily adjust the stroller handles to two heights for their own comfort, and a removable cup holder will keep a small cup or water bottle at their fingertips. While the lower storage basket is roomy, the location of the folding mechanism means that items are most easily accessible from the side. Featuring an elegant, high-sheen toffee, black, and cream design, this gender-neutral stroller collapses to a compact, standing position. While the stroller can be folded with one hand, using two hands is easier and quicker and can be done without fuss. This versatile stroller will suit children weighing up to 45 pounds. --Heather Lyndon

Summary: Before you Buy a Pliko -- Look at a KidCo 2006-06-08
Comment: I was a tried-and-true Peg Perego fan with my first child, who used her Pliko until she was 4. The stroller was so used and abused that it literally "fell apart" in the middle of the National Mall in Washington DC. I continued my "brand loyalty" and bought another Pliko the day after my 2nd child was born. However, my son was MUCH larger than my daughter, and by the age of 1 1/2, the seat cover had already ripped to shreds due to his weight. I bought a replacement seat cover ($50), however, it only lasted a year. Plus, he has such broad shoulders that he no could no longer fit comfortably in it.

My son is now 2 1/2 and 35 pounds, and because our family travels extensively and abuses the heck out of our strollers, I started researching strollers that could accommodate heavier and larger children. I only found two -- the KidCo Lifestyle stroller and the MacLaren. The MacLaren was, in my opinion, a joke because all of their models that were less than $200 had very limited functionality. Since my son enjoys sitting erect and leaning on the bar towards the front of the stroller rather than laying back, none of the MacLarens really worked for me. So I got the Kidco...

OH MY GOSH! If I had only found this thing sooner. It is of much better quality at half the price. My large son has SOOOOOO much more room in the Kidco for his broad shoulders than he did in the very narrow Pliko, plus it is much more maneuverable. The basket is at least twice the size and a lot studier than the Pliko. The stroller is much easier to fold and open, and it even included a free boot and rain cover. AND, BEST OF ALL, IT IS EVEN LIGHTER THAN THE PLIKO. The only negative I have found is that it doesn't stand upright by itself in the closed position, so I have to actually lean it up against the wall if leaving it at the front of a restaurant or store. And at only $140, this was truly my buy of the year.

Unfortunately, I think Kidco has discontinued their stroller production (they are best know for their child safety products), but you can still find this stroller on clearance at Babies R Us, other baby stores or on ebay. I cannot say enough good things about it. If you like the functionality and quality of a Pliko and are not a brand-snob, you really should consider the KidCo.

Summary: Smaller than Graco but fewer features 2006-06-06
Comment: We purchased an older model of this stroller because my husband hated our Graco Quattro Tour and its large size. If you are in the market, a word to the wise - hold out if you can for when the current models are clearanced to allow for new colors next year - same features, better price! Plusses of this stroller - it is lighter and narrower than the Graco. Also the sunshade can be stretched all the way to the snack tray so you truly can shade your child from the sun (the Graco's only goes overhead). However: While folding takes up less net space, it is longer - it must be diagonal in my Jeep trunk and is too long for trunk-to-backseat. I used to be able to have my Graco all the way to one side and carry a lot of cargo, but now I have to bury my stroller if I need to do it. Also as many have said, the storage basket is hard to access...what were the designers thinking? In the next update I'd love some accessible storage for things like change, napkins, etc. at hand-level like the Graco's had. The cupholder is horrible, it won't hold a cell phone or keys without the danger of them slipping through. Again not sure what they were thinking.

Overall I would love to merge the features of the Graco with the lightness and maneuverability of the Peg Perego.

Summary: So Far So Good! 2006-06-04
Comment: I have this stroller in the mint color. We've had it for alittle over a week now. I originally wanted a maclaren but thought it would not be enough support for my 4 month old. The P3 looked comfortable and is a nice looking stroller. So far I like the stroller but the best judge is my baby boy. The first time I sat him in it he hated it, I felt horrible I thought I made the wrong choice, but as the days went by he liked it more and more. I guess the change from a car seat travel system to a spacious stroller took some getting used to. It's not as light weight as I would have liked it to be but for the size of the stroller itself it closes up pretty compact. The wheels started to squeak alittle, I used WD40 and that did the trick. The ride is nice and smooth and the stroller is easy to manover even with one hand. Closing it was alittle of a challenge until I got the hang of it, closing it with one hand it not easy but not impossible. I guess there isn't the perfect stroller out there the important thing is that your baby is safe and comfortable. I feel that with the P3. When he's older and stronger I will get something lighter and compact.

Summary: good stroller but not perfect 2006-05-29
Comment: Obviously no stroller is going to be perfect. I bought this stroller because my sister had the same one and she said it was easy to manuever while shopping. It doesn't have the large, bulky wheels that the Graco strollers have. And she was right, this stroller is smaller than the Gracos and does manuever very well. If that's your top priority for a stroller, then buy this stroller. However, for some reason, we had problems getting the infant carrier to snap in place. My husband and I have both fought with it many times and it was frustrating. The stroller cannot be folded with one hand but isn't that difficult to fold or unfold. I agree with other reviews that say that the cup holder is crappy. It's not very deep and doesn't fit some cups. I've spilled a lot of drinks because of the bad cup holder. Also, the basket is small and very hard to access. I've found myself just using the stroller handles for my diaper bag and shopping bags. But like I said, if you're looking for a stroller that isn't so huge, this is a good stroller.

Summary: Love this stroller 2006-05-06
Comment: I researched the dozens of strollers out there when getting my registry ready and decided on this one. My baby is now 3 months old and I have to say that it has been one of the best gifts I got. The stroller is very lightweight and extremely easy to move around, fold up, and carry. I have the matching Peg Perego SIP infant carrier and it's a great match...she just clicks right in, not problem, no fuss. The basket on the bottom is big enough to fit my diaper bag. I do have to admit access is not the easiest thing but it's not rocket science either. All of the other aspects of this great stroller and infant seat combo more than compensates for this. I was looking for a travel system that was lightweight, easy to take in and out of the car, and shopping and travel friendly. I am VERY satisfied.
